Arcadia, My Arcadia is not about the rich and famous, nor is it about drugs or sex. With this story I only endeavored to create literature out of the daily life of common, ordinary people-their hopes and disappointments, their struggles and misfortunes. I am enormously pleased that readers recognize the appeal of Arcadia, My Arcadia for the values embedded in it: education, family, faith and the potential of every human being.

The cry of Arcadia, My Arcadia speaks with a strong cultural voice but one that has a universal tone, inspiring tears of hope that are part of the eternal human condition. Its stage has room for every person's homeland.

Arcadia, My Arcadia has a growing cadre of admirers. I felt greatly honored to receive a "First Homer Award" and "Gold Medal" from the International Society of Greek Writers on January 11, 2007, in addition to a second award, more recently, from the same organization "for special labor and contribution to literature".

I also felt a keen sense of gratitude when I had the honor to be an invited guest on the Newsmakers Comcast program, interviewed by charismatic television personality Lisa Aprati, on March 6. That interview, along with the one the Hellenic Museum and Cultural Center of Chicago arranged last year, will be part of the Museum's immigrant archives.

I am particularly honored to report that Greek-American producer John P. Kousakis, whose roots are in Arcadia, plans to take Arcadia, My Arcadia to the big screen. "The story struck such a deep vein in my heart," John wrote me recently, "that I want to film it to tell the story of my proud heritage. I want Arcadia, My Arcadia to be one of my stable productions."
