BOOK READINGS AND EVENTS - 2009

  • (April 23, 2009 (Merrillville, IN): The author presented at the SS. Constantine and Helen Cathedral in Merrillville, IN, on April 23. Planned as a Literary Evening and sponsored by the local AHEPA Chapter 78, the event was graciously organized by Andrew Kyres and Nick Giannikos.  Father Evagoras Constantinides (pictured below) commented: “Whether you are from Arcadia or not, whether you are first, second or third generation immigrant or not, you can truly identify with the feelings and adventures of Angelo, the hero of the story, to the States. The story reminded me in vivid colors of my coming to the States in 1938 with hardly any money, to work my way through college and overcome all the ups and downs that a strange but hospitable land has to offer, if you are willing to work and make the best of it.  It is definitely worth reading either in Greek or English.”

"I've never read a book like Arcadia, My Arcadia."
 Alex Rigopoulos,
Supreme President,
Pan-Arcadian Federation
"Atlas carried the world. Angelos Vlahos must carry his family on his back."
