June 16, 2008 (Tripolis/Arcadia, Greece): The author and his wife Popi made their yearly visit το the Dekazeion Nursing Home, arranged through the courtesy of Mr. Soterios Petropoulos, director of the center. They brought condiments to its residents, spoke with them and photographed several upon request. Some spoke nostalgically about their relatives abroad, others about a spouse already gone, and still others just wanted to talk. On a subsequent visit, the photos were handed out, which delighted each recipient. In their faces one could clearly see that, ultimately, it is the little pleasures of life that really count.
