Dear Reader:
Welcome to MyArcadiaBook.com.
Arcadia, My Arcadia is the tale of a country boy, Angelos Vlahos, the son of illiterate farmers, who wants to escape the dusty poverty of his nameless village in the folds of the somber Arcadian mountains and chase his dream in America. It’s an authentic story, based on experience and observation and not on notes taken during a month’s visit to the country. I know Angelos quite intimately, down to the missing hobnails of his only pair of shoes.
But, as a multitude of readers have attested (see Reviews), Arcadia, My Arcadia is not the epic journey of an Arcadian boy alone. Angelos’ saga represents the epic chronicle of every man and woman who, unable to earn a living in their homeland, became immigrants and triumphed against overwhelming odds.
Arcadia, My Arcadia is, above all, the story of the indomitable Greek spirit. It’s the story of Greece’s soul—tenacious and stubborn as it has always been in the Diaspora through the centuries.
Thanks for visiting MyArcadiaBook.com. I hope you relish my story enough to want to gift it to friends and all others you love, especially your parents and grandparents. You’ll be glad you did!
The Greek edition of Arcadia, My Arcadia (entitled «Ελλάδα Μου, Πατρίδα Μου») was launched at PARNASSOS, Athens (see News).
All my best,
Nicholas D. Kokonis
